Manpreet Dhillon Brar, Ph.D. (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the CD department as well as a diversity and equity consultant. Dr. Dhillon Brar broadly researches intergroup relations and adolescent and emerging adulthood development including marginalization across multiple social identities – examining how giving back to society (i.e., civic engagement) might indicate positive coping tackling experiences of discrimination – using intersectionality and mixed methodologies. Stacy Morris, Ph.D. (she/her) is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Child Development (CD; formerly Psychology) department. She researches ways of supporting adolescent and young adult civic engagement, and understanding of and motivations to combat societal inequities. She has experience with mixed methods and doing community engaged work, specifically with first-generation college students and organizations aimed to support them. Imalay Rivera, M.A. (she/her/hers) is a recent graduate of CSUSB’s Master’s Program in Child Development and an instructor in the Psychology and Child Development Departments. Her research interests include exploring the ways academic stress impacts students’ mental health and wellbeing, specifically for adolescents and young adults. Prior to joining EnAct, Imalay worked with individuals with developmental disabilities. Imalay is a winner of CSUSB Child Development department’s 2022 Outstanding Graduate Student Award.

Sarina Sauceda (she/her) is a current graduate student, pursuing a Masters in Child Development. In addition to being a part of EnAct, Sarina also works as a Mental Health Educator at Counseling and Psychological Services on campus. Her research interests include exploring how schools can better support their LGBTQ+ student population, particularly those entering college for the first time. Other interests include how discrimination affects the wellbeing and mental health of LGBTQ+ youth. Upon completing her M.A., she plans to continue her education and enter a PhD program.

Mishon Johnson (she/her) is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in child development, emphasizing child and adolescent development. Mishon is vice president of the CSUSB Child Development Club. Mishon is a dedicated researcher with a strong interest in exploring the intersection of race, disability, and inclusive education in higher education settings. She is particularly focused on implementing the Intersectional Universal Design for Learning (I-UDL) framework to promote equity and create inclusive learning environments for diverse student populations. Mishon is a winner of the CSUSB Child Development Department’s 2023 Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award. She is also one of the Sally Cassanova Pre-Doctoral Scholars.

Yareli Alondra Solis Mejia (pronouns: she/her) is a fourth-year undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Child Development concentrating in child and adolescent development. Yareli is currently completing her internship at the University Center for Developmental Disabilities learning how to use positive guidance and reinforcement. As a Hispanic first-generation, Yareli focuses on researching the difficulties and cultural stressors Hispanic/Latinos first-generation face throughout their college career. After completing her undergraduate degree, she plans to apply to graduate schooel to pursue her Phd degree.

Ana Elizabeth Mendoza Lopez (pronouns:she/her/hers) is an undergraduate alumni in the Child Development Program. Part of the honor program and expected to graduate in 2023, with a bachelor’s in Early Childhood Development. Previously a student mentor in an after school program with the goal of helping young students expand their learning. Has the goal of becoming a Child Life Specialist, working with diagnosed or hospitalized children and helping their families cope and their child understand medical procedures in age appropriate Therapeutic Play. Mexican descent, first generation looking forward to meeting new individuals with the same incentive in assisting the next generation.

Sitlaly Jimenez Preciado (pronouns: she/her/hers) is a CSUSB alumna, earning the undergraduate Early Childhood Development. Sitlaly worked as an assistant teacher at the infant and toddler lab school on campus and was the 2022-2023 president of the CSUSB Child Development Club. As a first generation college student from San Bernardino, Sitlaly is interested in evaluating the development of young children with the goal of helping children and families in the community have access to high quality childcare and education. Working in the EnAct Lab has allowed Sitlaly to pursue her research interests while working on her honors project on Latinx high school students’ critical consciousness. Upon completion of her undergraduate studies, she intends to apply to graduate school to further her research interests in examining racial/ethnic disparities in the education system to reduce gaps in achievement for minority students. Sitlaly is a winner of the CSUSB Child Development Department’s 2023 Outstanding Undergraduate Student Award.
